SF Beer Week: Lagunitas Collaboration Brew “San Francisco Fusion”

I was lucky enough to be there for this magical collaboration. Here’s the scoop.

For the first San Francisco Beer Week Lagunitas held a Beer Circus (which they now hold as a standalone event). This year, they wanted to do something different. So they invited a ton of Bay Area publicans out to help create a limited-release brew, just for SF Beer Week. How limited? About 80 kegs worth. “And maybe just one bottle” just to make it stoopidly limited. (Yes, they were joking. Probably.)

Here’s the official word:

Neighbors: Mike Giant on How To Get Shit Done

Doesn’t matter if you’re in advertising, design, or freakin’ basket weaving. The most successful are usually the most self-disciplined. In short, the ones who “do it and get it done … no fuckin’ around.” Wise words.

Neighbors is a documentary-ish series by See the rest »

Want: Super Shogun Stormtrooper from Super7

Yes, it has rotating wheels on the bottom of the feet.

Yes, it has a spring-loaded Rocket Punch firing fist.

Yes, you are crazy for wondering if you need it. Of course you need a two-foot tall Star Wars Super Shogun Stormtrooper.

In the world of jumbo-sized Japanese toys known as Jumbo Machinders, or even Shogun Warriors, no new characters have been produced in this size for over 25 years. Until now.

San Francisco‘s Super7 brings us the limited edition Super Shogun Stormtrooper in all its two-foot glory.

Jeremy Fish: Storytime With Creepy Uncle Fish

Last month Aesop Rock, with the help of other “multifarious” contributors, launched the blog 900 Bats as “… a creative resource for arts, information, and oddities.” Now the site is brimmin’ with re-blog-worthy goods. Here’s two episodes of a promising series from one of my fave SF artists, Jeremy Fish, Storytime With Creepy Uncle Fish. Created with Alexander Tarrant and Justin Metros.

In case you missed the Playboy above, these stories are not for the kiddies.

Boom: Car Explodes Outside Wells Fargo in SF

At just about noon I heard a loud pop outside from my 10th floor office. After more pops I leaned out and saw this flaming spectacle on Montgomery St & Post @ Market in San Francisco.

Stay tuned …

UPDATE: Here’s video from the 15th floor of my building (just five floors up from where I snapped these crappy iPhone pics)

KYEO: Stenciled Boy in Dogpatch

Something about how far this boy has to look for a patch of chain-link covered sky grabbed me and said, “snap a pic with your crappy iPhone camera, will ya?” So here it is.

If you’re in Dogpatch it’s at the foot of the old Fire Station 16 on Tennessee (between 20th & 21st).

NEXT WEEKEND / JUNE 19th & 20th (IT’S FREE!!!)
If you are anywhere near the San Francisco Yay Area do not miss the Northern California Pirate Festival. We’ve gone all three years and have always had a blast. They turn the Vallejo waterfront into a whole pirate village with plenty of eye candy (see above), games for kids, bands, Lagunitas beer, and food. So awesome. More info.

Watch: Crazy Russian Lady Destroys Grocery Aisle

Gotta love how everyone (even little old ladies) can now so easily document the crazy shit that goes on around us. Bless you, good samaritans.

I used to live right across from this grocery store when it used to be a Cala. I saw a lot of stern Russians but never like this.

This is right up there with the guy falling in the aisle. Only angrier. Messier. The woman’s obviously crazy. But at the same time, you know it’d be fun. Read how it all went down at SFist »
