Can you name what\u00a0beer can<\/a> Carrie Fisher<\/strong> is holding in this 1976 Star Wars: A New Hope<\/strong> shot?<\/p>\n Share the answer<\/span> \u00bb<\/p>\n HINT #1<\/strong> HINT #2<\/strong> UPDATE1:\u00a0AND THE ANSWER IS \u2026 <\/strong> <\/p>\n It’s not a can from the same year, but you can see the elements \u2026<\/p>\n Jeff Fang<\/a> called it first\u2014 Though the Belgian lager’s gotten a big stateside ad push recently, it first came out way back in 1926 as a Christmas beer. The name’s a combo of brewmaster Sebastian Artois<\/strong> and the latin word for ‘star<\/em>‘.<\/p>\n \u2022 \u2022 \u00a0 \u2022 \u2022<\/strong><\/p>\n Originally, we had one stillframe to judge from (scroll to top). The curve of the graphic label, although obscured, looked just like an old tallboy of Stella<\/strong>. But recently an animated gif of the whole scene showed up, giving us better views of the can (which was being passed to Mark Hamill<\/strong>). And, well, certain things have come to light…<\/p>\n Shout out to eagle-eye \u00dcmlaut<\/strong><\/em> reader Joshua Webb<\/strong> for making the catch:<\/p>\n The can we can (now) plainly see is actually Double Diamond<\/strong> from Ind Coope<\/strong>\/Carlsberg<\/strong>. They had a jingle at the time of filming, “A Double Diamond works wonders, works wonders, works wonders. A Double Diamond works wonders, so drink some today!<\/em>”<\/p>\n This officially closes the case on the Princess Leia Beer Can Mystery<\/em>.
