Petaluma’s fortunate enough to not only have a terrific craft beer bar like TAPS<\/a>, but also two breweries within a few miles of each other.\u00a0Lagunitas<\/a> of course, and the up-until-now Brewpub-only\u00a0Dempsey’s<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The latter’s only 4 blocks from my house. Yet, just across the street from me is the Petaluma\u00a0Whole Foods<\/strong>, where I stumbled across the freshly bottled first offerings from Dempsey’s Restaurant & Brewery<\/strong>. Surprise, surprise.<\/p>\n I spoke to Dempsey’s<\/strong> brewmaster Peter Burrell<\/strong> who confirmed they are indeed bottling on premises (via a mobile bottling service) and have almost sold out of their\u00a0Irish Ale<\/strong> and Sonoma Mountain Wheat<\/strong>. \nSonoma Irish Ale<\/strong> 5.2% ABV
\nRed Rooster<\/strong> 6% ABV
\nPSA<\/strong> 7.2% ABV<\/p>\n
\nInstead of the big juicy hops you expect from an imperial IPA, the\u00a0PSA<\/strong> (what they\u2019re calling an Extra IPA) is very sharp and dry. Complex, with hints of pepper and lime. Easily my favorite of their offerings. Worth hunting down a bomber or two. Even better to have fresh at the\u00a0Brewpub<\/a> overlooking the Petaluma River.<\/p>\n
