For the first San Francisco Beer Week<\/strong> Lagunitas held a\u00a0Beer Circus<\/a> (which they now hold as a standalone event<\/a>). This year,\u00a0they wanted to do something different. So they invited a ton of Bay Area publicans out to help create a limited-release brew, just for SF Beer Week<\/strong>. How limited? About 80 kegs worth. “And maybe just one bottle<\/em>” just to make it stoopidly limited. (Yes, they were joking. Probably.)<\/p>\n (With hops, malt, and barley. And in this case, a shit-ton more hops.)<\/p>\n \u2022 \u2022 \u00a0 \u2022 \u2022<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Upon hearing this from a brewer at Lagunitas<\/strong> there was a collective, Whoa<\/em>. Like so much\u00a0Keanu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u2022 \u2022 \u00a0 \u2022 \u2022<\/strong><\/p>\n Eric<\/strong> from TAPS Petaluma<\/a> grabbin’ bags, wielding knifes, and dumping away.<\/p>\n \u2022 \u2022 \u00a0 \u2022 \u2022<\/strong><\/p>\n Lagunitas<\/strong> had everyone involved in every part of the process. Josh<\/strong> from Berkeley<\/strong>‘s Bobby G’s Pizzeria<\/a> got a turn at manning the computer in the fabled brewhouse.<\/p>\n \u2022 \u2022 \u00a0 \u2022 \u2022<\/strong><\/p>\n Rebecca<\/strong> from Oakland<\/strong>‘s Beer Revolution<\/a> samples Hop Extract. Straight.<\/p>\n Every try it? We were told horror stories of a guy who got it in his eye. I think it was in Abu Ghraib.<\/p>\n \u2022 \u2022 \u00a0 \u2022 \u2022<\/strong><\/p>\n I’m the lucky holder of one pitcher ‘o 18-month bourbon barrel Cappuccino Stout, straight from the kegger. Don Chartier<\/strong> is the lucky loser of one (unrelated) bet, hence his goatee shaved into Lemmy-esque awesomeness. Dig that Petaluma Whiskerino<\/a> shirt.<\/p>\n \u2022 \u2022 \u00a0 \u2022 \u2022<\/strong><\/p>\n Another lucky publican gets to sample from the barrel-aged well.<\/p>\n \u2022 \u2022 \u00a0 \u2022 \u2022<\/strong><\/p>\n We were lucky enough to try the latter. At the end of the night Head Beer Weasel Ron Lindenbusch<\/strong> and crew walked everyone over to their warehouse of vintage and aged stock and proceeded to pull out some exceedingly rare bottles. Non moreso than, Eroica<\/strong>. The beer was only produced in ’99 and the hop itself is extinct.
