Shot on RED: Skate and Create “Laikairomania”

We know flames look good on the RED camera (watch Beer + Hot Lava Rocks), but this Spike Jonze executively-produced video for Lakai is scorchingly gorgeous.

Soundtrack:
Ima Robot “Ruthless”
from Another Man’s Treasure download

A fitting follow-up to their explosive Fully Flared video (below), this flaming “LAKAIROMANIA” vid was created for the annual Transworld contest, Skate and Create. Skate teams are paired up with an art director and video crew for a chance at winning a coveted spot on the mag’s cover.

Adv: Grizzly Bear do Lottery Dream Commercial

Patrick Daughters, who directed the Grizzly Bear‘s crazily-eyed Two Weeks video, handled this spot for Washington’s Lottery. Their second commercial appearance since VW PunchDub.

Although the effects merit repeat viewings, there’s something off about the editing of the music and visuals. Sure, they’re both gorgeous. They’re just not so great in bed together. (via Stereogum)

BEST USE OF INDIE MUSIC IN A COMMERCIAL DREAM:

Karen O x Squeak E. Clean‘s “Hello Tomorrow” for Adidas Spike Jonze. Dreamy indeed.

Trailer: Spike Jonze x Absolut Vodka Short Film “I’m Here”

Pretty and pretty depressing all at the same time.

The only direction Absolut Vodka gave Spike Jonze was to make something important to him.  So he made a love story about two robots living in Los Angeles. The 30-minute short gets global release in March.

Trailer: Spike Jonze’s Where The Wild Things Are

This trailer did two things for me: 1) Got me giddy-as-a-schoolgirl to see the flick, 2) Reminded me what a fanfreakingtastic album Funeral is. I never forgot, but it has slipped in my rotation for sure.

Watch the trailer in HD at Apple. Peep the poster at The Movie Blog.
