MP3: Friday Five 05.21.2010 The Dø, Death Vessel, Club 8, José González / Junip, Ane Brun

After some server shizzery, the Ümlaut‘s back. With some-tunes old and some-tunes new …

French duo The Dø (say ‘dough’) finally got their 2008 breakout A Mouthful issued stateside. With the track’s sassy-girl vocals and all its hand-clappery, I dare you not to shimmy. Death Vessel has one of the prettiest female voices I’ve ever heard from a dude. Yes, a dude. And it’s a song from five years ago. So if you haven’t already, seek out more of their tunes. This new Club 8 is almost as afro-infectious as the track posted in Feb. Fellow Swede (by way of Argentina) José González and his on-again off-again trio Junip is offering a free EP just for joining their mailing list. Not bad. The set finishes out with an aching little ditty from Norwegian Ane Brun circa 2002.
