Lots to add to your list. Keep an ear out for the Beck-produced track from Stephen Malkmus (LP out 8/23), released just in time for Weinergate to, uh, expose itself. Enjoy thoroughly.

Peek: Mister Heavenly with Michael Cera at Cafe Du Nord San Francisco

(yes, this is the best pic my crappy cam could capture)

Mister Heavenly, the super-ish trio of Nick “Diamonds” Thorburn (The Unicorns / Islands), Honus Honus (Man Man), and Joe Plummer (Modest Mouse), played their third show last night. And yet again they were joined by Michael Cera on bass. Apparently he’s only playing with the band during their current tour opening for Passion Pit.

The show was surprisingly great. A surprise since, well, they haven’t released any tunes yet. It was only a few days ago Sub Pop announced their signing. All I knew was their self-described sound as “Doom-wop” (a combo of doo-wop and doomed love songs). After hearing ’em, that’s not too far off. And hot-damn, that Honus Honus has an amazingly raw ‘n throaty croon. Expect good things.

No CDs for sale. But they did have these handsome shirts:
