Two retired sports figures are doing a series of commercial vids on YouTube, there was bound to be some crossover … Tell me this dude looks more than a little Hernandez-y …
HANES “BACON NECK” w/ MICHAEL JORDAN:
See more Michael Jordan in the Hanes Flight23 series. (thanks, Wardinger)
BLOOMBERG “MUSTRASH TALK” w/ KEITH HERNANDEZ:
See Keith Hernandez dish out more Mustrash Talk.
Getting a single egg in a large pan? Exposing breasts to your boss and making it seem like an accident? Why is everything so freakin’ hard?!
I’ve got a soft spot for bad stuff. The worse, the better. It’s why I pay money for jacked-up action figures. Hell, it’s why I do the Ümlaut. Naturally, when it comes to TV, I cannot escape the gravitational pull of bad commercials. This montage is irresistible. With a great use of The Beatles, too.
Thanks, FangFoundThis!
Cool way to show the speed of the new Google Chrome browser. Geek out on the technical details and stats here. Then watch the making of. (Thanks, Jess!)

“Roundabound!”
Watch Darth Vader lend his breathy pipes for the new Star Wars Voices on TomTom. It’s a lot like the trailer for Comedian by Jerry Seinfeld. By that I mean it’s pretty fantastic. (Thanks, Chris)
Patrick Daughters, who directed the Grizzly Bear‘s crazily-eyed Two Weeks video, handled this spot for Washington’s Lottery. Their second commercial appearance since VW PunchDub.
Although the effects merit repeat viewings, there’s something off about the editing of the music and visuals. Sure, they’re both gorgeous. They’re just not so great in bed together. (via Stereogum)
BEST USE OF INDIE MUSIC IN A COMMERCIAL DREAM:
Karen O x Squeak E. Clean‘s “Hello Tomorrow” for Adidas / Spike Jonze. Dreamy indeed.
Not a big fan of the Green Heiny but this Men With Talent spot from TBWA Amsterdam cracks me up. If I don’t or won’t ever care about the product, that’s all I ask for. A laugh. Even a chuckle. Please. (Thanks, Wardinger)

Traction: Wieden’s “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” Old Spice Spot
This is a great example of getting something more from the work you do for a client. After I Love Dust created this Nike Japan spot with AKQA San Francisco, they started tweaking it for their own portoflio:
“… what was once a 45 second piece featuring a girl dancing turned into a 1:20 epic about a girl-turned-superhero outsmarting an enraged robot through the centre of a Tokyo-inspired Metropolis.”
Soundtrack: Vitalic‘s Repair Machines. Watch Chase on Vimeo. (Thanks, Koxvold)

Nice Tropicana spot with a nicer soundtrack, Patrick Watson‘s “Great Escape“. (via Dog & Pony Show)
He’s coming to Cafe Du Nord May 26th. Do not miss! The Ümlaut caught his band there last time and it was gorgeous.

Wieden+Kennedy‘s fantastic Old Spice spot is gaining some serious traction. Not quite GEICO Caveman TV show traction. But that’s a good thing.
Petaluma’s own Leo Laporte (Tech TV) just dissected the making of and even interviewed the creative team behind the idea. There’s the inevitable spoofs, of course. Now there’s a tribute song.
