This Sucks: Lagunitas Announces Brown Shugga’ Substitute Holiday Ale

[like]

Every year when Lagunitas throws the after-party for Petaluma Whiskerino, the timing always lines up with when they’ve just tapped the first run of Brown Shugga‘—their magically sweet, deliciously hoppy holiday brew. It signaled the end of a hairy few months and the beginning of the hearty holidays. But not this year.

Here’s why none of us will be imbibing the incredible Shugga’ this year. And why Lagunitas sucksSee the rest »

Beer x Tattoo: Lagunitas Gets Hanna Aitchison for “Zephyr” Chicago Collaboration Ale Art

Unfortunately, this artwork by Hannah Aitchison didn’t make it in time for the official  release of this new limited Lagunitas brew, Zephyr Ale. But it’ll no doubt show up somewhere.

SF Beer Week: Lagunitas Collaboration Brew “San Francisco Fusion”

I was lucky enough to be there for this magical collaboration. Here’s the scoop.

For the first San Francisco Beer Week Lagunitas held a Beer Circus (which they now hold as a standalone event). This year, they wanted to do something different. So they invited a ton of Bay Area publicans out to help create a limited-release brew, just for SF Beer Week. How limited? About 80 kegs worth. “And maybe just one bottle” just to make it stoopidly limited. (Yes, they were joking. Probably.)

Here’s the official word:

Beer: It’s Official, Lagunitas Little Sumpin’ Wild for September

“Another Big Sister of the Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale…. Loads of Malted Wheat for a Curious Malt Foundation and a Light Color, But Our Belgian Yeast Leaves a Huge Flavor and Complexishness.”

Compared to the “wheatly-esque-ishness” of the original, this sounds even tastier-y. Sumpin’ Wild arrives from Lagunitas around September with an ABV of 7.8%.

Mario was lucky enough to try it on tap. Catch the writeup at Santa Rosa Craft Beer Examiner »

Maybe you can sample it at the Beer Circus. Get your tickets yet?

Beer: Lagunitas Now Offering Virtual Tastings

Haven’t tasted Brown Shugga‘ yet? Or Olde GnarlyWine? Slap yourself. Then take a virtual taste with Lagunitas Brewmaster Jeremy Marshal. There’s now short lil’ videos for almost all their beers on Lagunitas.com.

After you whet your virtual whistle (get your mind out of the gutter) go down and have some actual tastings at their TapRoom & Beer Sanctuary. Every week they tap a different firkin of some crazy brew you won’t find on shelves anywhere, like Yumberry Pale, Drunken Russian Imperial Ruben, and Mocha Stout. Plus, they just added a whole bunch of sandwiches to their menu.

I’m headin’ there right now. Cheers!
