Oh The Humanity: Meat Loaf Rips Apart America The Beautiful

I don’t want to knock enthusiasm but what the hell happened to Meat Loaf at this Mitt Romney event? If I was a Romney fan I’d probably think Mr. Loaf was an elaborate, malicious, extremely random plant. But I’m not. Yet I still can’t can’t stop watching. Volume way up.

Old Spice: Terry Crews Muscle Music will Flex Your Cortex

This wins the internet for the week. There’s even an interactive player you can use to record your own mix. Kinda like Ron Winter’s QWERTY drums on roids, juice, ludes and some sort of fish paralyzer. Thanks for the tip, Beau.

Tattoo apprentice Amelia Martin created this killer Jawbreaker Flash for Mike Munter. At least, that’s what I gathered from her Tumblr.

Free Show: Nicki Bluhm Live at Lagunitas

Not many people know but the fine folks over at Lagunitas have built a killer outdoor venue nestled next to their Beer Sanctuary called the Laguminiamphitheaterette. Yes, that just rolls off the tongue. They’re doing a series of FREE(!) shows through the summer with some serious names lined up. Bluegrass legend Peter Rowan kick things off last Monday. This Monday Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers are playing with Petaluma‘s favorite farm band, Arann Harris and The Farm Dogs. The place only holds a few hundred people, so you don’t wanna sleep on this.

For FREE tickets, get to the Lagunitas Schwag Shop first thing Wednesday before all the tickets are gone.

MP3: Django Django, SF’s Night Genes, Jack White, Wild Nothing, and The Dø :: Friday 02.03.12

As much as I hate to perpetuate lazy comparisons, on first listen of San Francisco‘s Night Genes it’s hard not to reference the singer from The National. But I’ll one-up it with another reference: Steve Sallet from King of France / The Poison Tree. Regardless of familiar timbre, the trio’s touches of electropop and bright melodies help them stand on their own and make ’em one to add to your shopping list. Enjoy thoroughly.

The new Patrick Watson album Adventures In Your Own Backyard now has a Europe release date of April 16, with the US on May 1st. In the meantime they’ve kindly released this taster, Into Giants, a lovely ‘n rambling ditty that builds and soars with gorgeously lilting harmonies. Oh so nice.
