Remember the fake Machete trailer in Planet Terror? Well, now there’s a real one …
This is the “Illegal Machete Trailer” with a special Cinco De Mayo message from Danny Trejo.
While a lot stays true to the original-fake trailer, Robert Rodriguez has packed in even more badassery and an onslaught of familiar faces—from Robert De Niro to Lindsay Lohan to Don freakin’ Johnson. (via Ain’t It Cool News)
UPDATE:
Nice black and white tribute to Danny Trejo by The Chumbeques. (Thanks, Mike!)
Epically epic. Click and drag to see the charges go boom all around you. Then look up as Texas Stadium comes crashing down. See it big (via BoingBoing)
Patrick Daughters, who directed the Grizzly Bear‘s crazily-eyed Two Weeks video, handled this spot for Washington’s Lottery. Their second commercial appearance since VW PunchDub.
Although the effects merit repeat viewings, there’s something off about the editing of the music and visuals. Sure, they’re both gorgeous. They’re just not so great in bed together. (via Stereogum)
BEST USE OF INDIE MUSIC IN A COMMERCIAL DREAM:
Karen O x Squeak E. Clean‘s “Hello Tomorrow” for Adidas / Spike Jonze. Dreamy indeed.
Not a big fan of the Green Heiny but this Men With Talent spot from TBWA Amsterdam cracks me up. If I don’t or won’t ever care about the product, that’s all I ask for. A laugh. Even a chuckle. Please. (Thanks, Wardinger)
Going to see Conan O’Brien live tonight in SF. After this tour you’ll be able to catch him on TBS where Conor Knighton, of InfoMania on Current TV, points out is home to a certain comedian who certainly gets a kick out of himself. I don’t.
So pathetic, it’s impressive. Someone needs to do a Techno Viking remix of this. Pronto. (Thanks, Mel)
SAME DUDE?
Hang in there. Especially if you’ve seen the original vid. This Tragedy RemixRequiem soundtrack is seriously brilliant. I’m sure Jeff Goldblum would attest.
Is this a pro-homosexual campaign by Hollywood? Or a pro-smoking campaign from the UK tobacco industry? Neither. Just a momentary view of letters E, A, and G as the camera zooms in. Wardinger caught it on Sesame Street and snapped the pic. Pretty funny.

BONUS: WORDS OF THE DAY “HEY GUYS”
This video wipes out crops of brain cells every second you watch. (Thanks, Chris!)
This is a great example of getting something more from the work you do for a client. After I Love Dust created this Nike Japan spot with AKQA San Francisco, they started tweaking it for their own portoflio:
“… what was once a 45 second piece featuring a girl dancing turned into a 1:20 epic about a girl-turned-superhero outsmarting an enraged robot through the centre of a Tokyo-inspired Metropolis.”
UPDATE 05.14.10 Adam Sandler‘s production company has teamed up with Patrick Jean to produce a major feature version of Pixels. I’d be happy just watching this short on the big screen. I can only imagine how it’ll turn out …
