The Bark Side: VW Canine Choir does Star Wars ‘Imperial March’

This one’s all about execution. And I don’t think Lucas could direct this furry troupe the way the folks at Deutsch did. Maybe that’s why he’s retiring from blockbusters.

Apparently, this is only a teaser for some Game Day celebration tie-in that Volkswagen is sponsoring. There’s even a site where you can get your name (and more?) in a customized Star Wars crawl. Woof. Check it here.

SF Giants x Star Wars: Fear The Jedi Beard Shirt

SF Giants, Star Wars, and facial hair. Si, por favor.

I didn’t think the ¡Dia De Los Gigantes! Shirt could ever be topped. But this Fear The Jedi Beard (Kenobi) tee created by Jeff Fang may be the best yet.

UPDATE: Reprints have finally been made and you can place an order by sending an email to jeff@jefffang.com.

Gotta love the details:

Stay tuned for info on how—and if— you can get your mitts on one of ‘em, too. Thanks, Fang!

Brickgasm: LEGOLAND Announces STAR WARS MINILAND

After seven straight years of growth, LEGOLAND has made a very special announcement: more growth. Like, over 2000 Star Wars models and 1.5 million pieces growth. Together it’s just one more excuse to go back.

“On March 31 LEGOLAND California becomes the first of three LEGOLAND Parks to launch a new STAR WARS Miniland area. Guests can enjoy seven of the most famous scenes from the six live-action STAR WARS movies, as well as a scene from the animated series STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS™  all made out of 1.5 million LEGO bricks and built in 1:20 scale.”

Star Wars: Stormtrooper Singin’ In The Rain, Missing Lightsaber Scene & ‘Made In China’ Lightsaber

Some nice CG effects by Danny Choo. No doubt inspired by the VW GTI spot with David Elsewhere puppet-dancing for Gene Kelly.

This lost lightsaber scene from Return of the Jedi just debuted at Celebration V (via) reminded me of an auction Mel and I went to where George Lucas donated an ‘authentic’ Obi Wan lightsaber …

… complete with ‘authentic’ Made In China sticker still present. You know, for added realism.

Rad: Victorian Star Wars Portraits

San Francisco’s Greg Pelts created this fantastic series of Victorian Star Wars portraits. Check out Boba Fett, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and Civil War-era Lord Vader.

You can’t buy any prints but you can make a custom request on his commission pieces. Perhaps a Victorian boudoir Slave Leia portrait for the parlor? (via Kottke)

World Cup: Star Wars x Adidas Originals “Cantina 2010” with Daft Punk, Beckham, more

It’s not just tiny, bearded streakers promoting FIFA World Cup viewing parties. Attik just joined the game with a follow up to their awesome Star Wars x Adidas vid:

adidas Originals invites you to join David Beckham, Daft Punk, Snoop Dogg, Franz Beckenbauer, Noel Gallagher, Ian Brown, Ciara, Jay Baruchel, DJ Neil Armstrong and some of your dear, old friends for an intergalactic 2010 FIFA World Cup viewing party that you’ll never forget.”

Star Wars: Hitchcock’s North By Northwest Galaxy

Cary Grant stars as a hapless New York advertising executive who’s mistaken for a Jedi by a group of Imperial agents, and is pursued across the galaxy while he looks for a way to survive, is how I’m guessing the IMDB would read. More great imagery on NCOTB. (Thanks, Fang)
