Here’s a couple choice quotes. On why she comes to games:
“The wings. The beer deals. There’s like, usually like, hot guys that’re, like, up for anything”
::
On the girls who are with those hot guys:
“…Depending on what the girl looks like, I’ll just fight her”
::
On NPR:
“They should defunct that. What is this, Russia? … “

UPDATE: REAL OR FAKE? We’ve all been wondering if this was a joke. Finally, there’s proof. It was Kate James of Chicago area sketch comedy ensemble Schadenfreude. Well done, Kate.

HOWEVER, THESE DRUNK CUBS FANS ARE ABSOLUTELY REAL:
I can safely say, being fresh from the Craft Brewers Conference and having attended a bevy of festivals, beer geeks are a hairy people. You could easily call any beer festival a “beard lounge”. But the fine folks at the Atlantic City Beer Festival have zeroed in on just the moustachioed fellows this weekend by creating a “Mustache Lounge”.
I don’t agree with the spelling but I love the idea.
And I can’t help but think of beer gardens at regular ol’ street festivals. Only with a bunch of dudes quarantined like bearded veal. Perhaps the next fest you attend will have a Goatee Garden? Soul Patch Paddock? Or Sideburn Stage?
If anyone’s going, please send me pics. And if you need conversation fodder, here’s some of my favorite Hairy Beerd Labels. Talk amongst your ‘stachy selves.
Every Friday like clockwork, or like the Friday Five, the Beer Delivery Guy shows up for the agency’s weekly beer bash (did I mention I love freelancing?). Today I managed to snap a pic of his satin pride. Fantastic.
What a week for iPhones and beer. First I hear the arcade classic Tapper is coming to iOS as Tapper World Tour. Now there’s an app to help you count all the beers you knock back in the real world, BeerStat.
Do you really need a tally for your drinking? Really? Maybe not. But what’s cool about this is all the stats it spits back at you. Not just which brands you’ve drank most but what percentage of your body weight you’ve drank in beer, or how much money you’ve spent on beer this month. No doubt, too much.
Yes, it’s a Re-Redüx of last year’s O’Bligatory St. Paddy’s McMix. But to be fair, your were really drunk last year and don’t remember how rad this was. Spin it again:
Pulled this pull-top out of the garage to share with you, ‘cuz you’re geeky like that. Western Beer, not to be confused with Great Western Beer, was brewed by Minnesota‘s Cold Spring Brewing from about 1969 through 1990 (according to Tavern Trove).

While IsItSnowingInSanFrancisco.com still says No, we’re pretty damn close to getting that foreign substance I knew as a lad called “snow”. What better time to crack into this snowflake-laden Norwegian import.
Nøgne Ø (which means “naked island”) is a craft brewery in Grimstad, a barron, desolate region of Norway. Hence the name. They’ve been getting more exposure Stateside thanks to an infusion of American stylings in their quality brews and interesting collaborations with the likes of Stone, Jolly Pumpkin, and gypsy import, Mikkeller.
Recently GOOD Magazine asked readers for “the most awesome, best-tasting, sustainably brewed, independently owned, community-oriented craft beer brewed in your state“. This (updated) map is the result. Let the list-bitching begin …
I was lucky enough to be there for this magical collaboration. Here’s the scoop.
For the first San Francisco Beer Week Lagunitas held a Beer Circus (which they now hold as a standalone event). This year, they wanted to do something different. So they invited a ton of Bay Area publicans out to help create a limited-release brew, just for SF Beer Week. How limited? About 80 kegs worth. “And maybe just one bottle” just to make it stoopidly limited. (Yes, they were joking. Probably.)
I was just notified that today, Jan 24, is Beer Can Appreciation Day (thanks, Jay). Here’s a vintage Acme beer can my wife gave me as a pencil holder, circa 1940s-ish.
I appreciate how the art looks almost like a tattoo up close … See the rest »
