Today is International (er, -Galactic?) Star Wars Day. What better way to celebrate than with new-ish spots for LEGO Star Wars III? Killer work by the same peeps who did the end-card animations for our ampmSecret Menu spots, The Core LA.

THE FÖRCE IS STRONG WITH THIS LIST
Can you believe it’s been a whole year since the since last May the 4th? Here’s a handy look back at everything you May’ve missed (see what I did there). Geek out with the Ümlaut:
Oh, happy day. Not only was Portal 2 released, but this single from The National, too. It’s a piano-driven number, much like their contribution to the Win Win Soundtrack, only more chilly. Gorgeous nonetheless. Even if the cake is still a lie. Purchase it here.
Awesome work from Wieden+Kennedy and the same creative team behind the killer Dante’s Inferno campaign. Keep an eye out for that hot dog. (Thanks, Matt)

FOR NON-GAMERS/AD NERDS …
Here’s the original Halo vid See the rest »
I remember playing Oregon Trail on Apple IIs in elementary school. Loved it. Right up there with Lemonade Stand in terms of 8-bit edu-tainment.
Just in time for Halloween the game is back from the dead, with an apocalyptic twist: Organ Trail. All thanks to a band of developers known as The Men Who Wear Many Hats. How long can you survive?
Where Pixels had videogame classics taking on Manhattan, Gnarcade has the 8-bits versus the Boarders on Mt. Hood and High Cascade. Created by Knife Show Inc and Mike Benson. Music by Ground Up. (Thanks, Canaan!)
Not sure what move this is but looks like it involves a lighter. One thing’s clear, this is no Gymkata.
Apparently there was a PC game called Bikini Karate Babes 1 because now there’s a sequel—the respectably titled Warriors of Elysia. It looks just as epically cinematic as the name suggests.
Malcolm aka pixelrevision whipped this up using the original Space Invaders Rom, a Z80 emulator, ARToolKit, and Papervision. Just a test. But you can imagine the possibilities. Watch the demo on Vimeo.
UPDATE:
For all the ladies out there wanting to augment their display of fashion sense, may I suggest Space Invaders Leggings / Tights.
Pong was the first videogame console I owned. Or, rather, got. Only because our neighbors were throwing it away and my Dad thought Atari was too damn expensive. Maybe that’s where my want for gadgets came from?
Direct from E3. Well, by way of Laughing Squid. This “epic moment in old republic history” is the first in a series of trailers for the new game from the old Old Republic franchise. By the looks of it, this time they mean business.
Is that a Lego Jack White? Will there be a Lego Lars Umlaut?
We do know there’ll be kid-friendly tunes like Blur’s “Song 2″ and the Carl Douglas classic “Kung Fu Fighting” (not the one covered by Cee-Lo for Kung Fu Panda … Thank the ‘Lo). Full story here.
