Watch This: The Social Network for Call of Duty Elite w/theLEGENDofKARL

Probably one of the most entertaining and badass walkthroughs I’ve ever sat through. And I haven’t sat through single f-ing one. Until now.

You know what I mean by f-ing, right? (Thanks, Bill!)

May the 4th: Celebrate with LEGO Star Wars III Commercials and More

Today is International (er, –Galactic?) Star Wars Day. What better way to celebrate than with new-ish spots for LEGO Star Wars III? Killer work by the same peeps who did the end-card animations for our ampm Secret Menu spots, The Core LA.

THE FÖRCE IS STRONG WITH THIS LIST

Can you believe it’s been a whole year since the since last May the 4th? Here’s a handy look back at everything you May’ve  missed (see what I did there). Geek out with the Ümlaut:

The National: New Single from Portal 2 Soundtrack

Oh, happy day. Not only was Portal 2 released, but this single from  The National, too. It’s a piano-driven number, much like  their contribution to the Win Win Soundtrack, only more chilly. Gorgeous nonetheless. Even if the cake is still a lie. Purchase it here.

The National “Exile Vilify” from the game Portal 2 [BUY on iTunes]

Play: Organ Trail

I remember playing Oregon Trail on Apple IIs in elementary school. Loved it. Right up there with Lemonade Stand in terms of 8-bit edu-tainment.

Just in time for Halloween the game is back from the dead, with an apocalyptic twist: Organ Trail. All thanks to a band of developers known as The Men Who Wear Many Hats. How long can you survive?

Gnarcade: 8-Bit Attack on Mt. Hood

Where Pixels had videogame classics taking on Manhattan, Gnarcade has the 8-bits versus the Boarders on Mt. Hood and High Cascade. Created by Knife Show Inc and  Mike Benson. Music by Ground Up. (Thanks, Canaan!)

Play: Bikini Karate Babes 2

Not sure what move this is but looks like it involves a lighter. One thing’s clear, this is no Gymkata.

Apparently there was a PC game called Bikini Karate Babes 1 because now there’s a sequel—the respectably titled Warriors of Elysia. It looks just as epically cinematic as the name suggests.

Yes, this is serious. See the rest »

Whoa: Space Invaders Augmented Reality and Real Tights

Malcolm aka pixelrevision whipped this up using the original Space Invaders Rom, a Z80 emulator, ARToolKit, and Papervision. Just a test. But you can imagine the possibilities. Watch the demo on Vimeo.

UPDATE:
For all the ladies out there wanting to augment their display of fashion sense, may I suggest Space Invaders Leggings / Tights.

Play: Browser Pong!

Pong was the first videogame console I owned. Or, rather, got. Only because our neighbors were throwing it away and my Dad thought Atari was too damn expensive. Maybe that’s where my want for gadgets came from?

This version is all about the experience: Not in-browser, with browser. One of the more refreshing takes on a game since Grupo Falso Baiano covered the Mario Bros song. Or when Lombard Street got turned into a giant Candyland (only a helluva lot more stripped down).

Go play Browser Pong by Stewdio. (via Coudal)

Is that a Lego Jack White? Will there be a Lego Lars Umlaut?

We do know there’ll be kid-friendly tunes like Blur’s “Song 2” and the Carl Douglas classic “Kung Fu Fighting” (not the one covered by Cee-Lo for Kung Fu Panda … Thank the ‘Lo).  Full story here.
